With the obvious exception of the original album version and its shorter edit the 7 mixes here are all unique, very different journeys. We were very privileged to have some amazing talent putting their own very individual voices to this project - we gave them no preconceptions as to what we wanted from them but are very proud to have our name associated with the results.
1. featuring Rogue - Radio Edit. This was originally produced as one of the extra remixes, but came out so catchy we chopped it down to a radio-friendly length and made it the main mix. Featuring the considerable talents of rapper Rogue, Pierre's daughter, who wrote the extra lyrics for it. It keeps the flow and mystery of the original but with an added funky, urban edge - a real marriage of opposites. Check out the video below - 3min48sec
2. Birth Mix - radio edit. All the power of the original squeezed into 3min48sec
3. Album Version (from 'Birth') - which hopefully needs no introduction, a bit of an epic journey, and so often the highpoint of an Orchid-Star live set - 9min13sec
4. Blackmarc Mix. A lush, sexy, dreamy house mix from one of South London's finest producers - 5min11sec
5. Matrix Mix (Sarah E). Grooving, atmospheric psychedelia, that also features Rogue's vocals - 4min12sec
6. Asteroid Mix (Sarah E). Just as atmospheric and bouncy and individual as the Matrix mix but much more tribal drumming - to me it's a bit like a walk round a hectic Arab bazaar (not that I'd know) - 5min38sec
7. Sly One vs. Jurrane with Becky Dell Mix. Our own Becky gets in on the act with 2 top trance DJs/producers, whose recent successes mean they're unlikely to have the time to do one for us again! A glorious, uplifting bit of dancefloor magic - 7min45sec

"Although the over-used term 'dance' has tended to become a very far reaching and all-encompassing descriptive, Orchid Star have brought a glorious and majestic sense of 'oneworldness' to the genre through the introduction of such an array of stunning ethnic, tribal and generally eclectic influences. And, the proud and often guarded 'keepers' of those influences would surely be equally impressed and suitably entertained by what Orchid Star have done here.
'Passion' by Orchid Star is seriously good - probably one of the most unusual and classy sorties into the deepest realms and darkest corners of the modern electronically biased dance idiom that I've ever heard." www.ToxicPete.co.uk
"with that blend of the eastern and effects that make it sound like the soundtrack to the Arabian Nights in Space. Size of a cow!!" www.countytimes.co.uk
